NEW AWS Service Quota Screen for Admins! Reset budget and Reset Kickstarter options, some UI enhancements, minor improvements, bug fixes and more!

RONIN Release: Thursday 15th October 2026

Features

New AWS Service Quota Screen for Administrators

  • Allows administrators to see key AWS service quotas related to RONIN activities
  • Can help quickly troubleshoot issues if they arise due to an AWS Service Quota limit
  • Also allows Administrators to more easily see when they may need to request an increase to common quotas such as specific EC2 instance types before they become an issue to users

Reset Project Budgets

  • Administrators can now reset a project budget to $0 from the settings screen of that project
  • This feature can help keep RONIN project budgets better aligned with institutional funding periods
  • Budget reset dates for projects are shown in the Budget Management Admin table

Reset Kickstarter Project

  • Administrators have the ability to reset a previously closed kickstarter project (if enabled)
  • This will restart the users kickstarter project to the current kickstarter parameters (budget, autopause, billing codes, project length etc)

Persistent UI Preferences for Machine View

  • By default, RONIN converts the traditional card layout on the Machine Summary screen to a table view once there are 8 or more machines in a project; however, some users prefer the machine card view. This option allows RONIN to remember the user preference so that they don't have to switch to their preferred view each time they navigate to the Machine Summary screen.
  • Added search bars for default Operating Systems, or pre-configured software packages when launching machines from the New Machine screen so that users can more quickly find the option they are looking for

Minor Improvements & Bug Fixes

  • Added the Attached EBS Status check to the Machine Summary card when launching a machine
  • Updated RONIN instance table with new instance types and pricing information
  • EC2 instances are now sorted in descending generation order so that newer instance types appear first
  • Non-nitro instances are filtered out of the instance table since these older instances are often no longer compatible with most modern OS and AWS options
  • Closed projects are now filtered out of most project lists throughout the UI, they are still available via the budget summary screen where required
  • Fixed bug where moving an existing project start date to today's date was causing a division by zero error when trying to calculate the forecasted expenditure for that project
  • Improved error catching for automated RONIN services
  • Some minor security improvements to remediate some low risk vulnerabilities
  • Added pagination to some AWS API calls to better support high project counts
